In today’s society where we have become so over inundated with technology one can easily lose touch with not only humanity but their cultural identity. African IP is an examination of how technology can serve as a means to reconnect us to our lost stories and stolen legacies, as well as be used as a tool to divide and conquer.
African IP was created live at the Ensemble Theatre for the Houston Museum of African American Culture’s 2018 gala honoring ballet legend Lauren Anderson, Tony Award winner Sarah Jones, and philanthropist Eileen Lawal. My hopes is that this piece will encourage you to research your ancient origins and discover your source code. In finding who you are, you also find your intent and purpose.
